It's been more than a year since our first candidates were racing to become president. Now we're down to two which is Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. For all the U.S. Citizens throughout America have been watching the news, watching debates, and making decisions. Do far Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump are neck and neck. Both have positive ideas and negative ideas that could affect everyone in the country. Probably everyone has watched the recent debate on Monday September 26, 2016. Both candidates Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump brought up many positive and negative points. Donald Trump was to stop companies like Ford leaving The United States and going to Mexico. The car company Ford left the United States and went to Mexico. This problem has many pros and cons. If the companies leave then a lot of people are left without jobs and then can't support their families. Trump said that Hilary didn't have stamina, but Clinton fired back that he had called a former Miss Universe Miss Piggy or Miss Housekeeping just because she was Latina. Then Trump said the Hilary shouldn't have deleted all those thirty thousand emails. He said that was a huge mistake and she shouldn't have done that. So both candidates have positive and negative ideas, but it's up to us whether we want Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton as our future president.

Last week we started working on our manuals that was about How to Survive Middle School. Today we presented our manual to the sixth graders and later on we're going to share it to the fifth graders. We got to choose our groups and in my group was Angelique, Chelsea, Jeanette, Karissa, and Sophie. To make sure we got a fair amount of work, we split up the slides. I was assigned the Help slide which means if a middle schooler is ever malfunctioning, he or she can just go to help and they will know how to solve their problem. One example of a problem is procrastination. You shouldn't procrastinate. Just got to math lab or if you choose not to, when you get home, get to work immediately. Another problem is drama. Usually there is some kind of drama, but sometimes there's not, but to avoid it don't get into trouble and don't gossip. One last problem we went over is PLAGIARISM! Never plagiarize because you will get into big trouble. Right now in middle school Mrs. Todesco is teaching us not to plagiarize because in high school and college, if you plagiarize you could get kicked out of school. This a serious a topic that as middle schoolers have to take into consideration. In our power point we also had other useful information such as instructions, diagram, service hours and other helpful information for new incoming middle schoolers. Overall, the manual was a great experience and i got to make it with my friends. I hope you survive middle school!
On Sunday, it was the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11 and on that day we remember all those people who died. There were about at least three thousand killed and four hundred of them were police officers and firefighters. The planes hit at the World Trade center in New York City, at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and a plane crashed in a field at Pennsylvania. It was 8:46 A.M, when a plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Eighteen minutes later another plane came rushing in and hit the South Tower. What really surprised me was that the terrorists had lived in the United States for more than a year and they had taken flying lessons. However, others slipped into the United States months before September eleven. At nine-forty five A.M., a plane crashed into the Pentagon. There were one hundred twenty five military killed and sixty four people also died aboard the airplane. Fifteen minutes later after they hit the Pentagon the South Tower collapsed. At ten thirty A.M., the North Tower collapsed. Another plane was hijacked in New Jersey. There were at least forty-five people on board and when they found out that their plane was hijacked, a group of passengers and flight attendants started fighting the terrorists. It was really devastating to know that all this happened and that so many people lost a loved one that day. On Sunday, September 4, Mother Teresa or now known as Saint Teresa was canonized by Pope Francis. Saint Teresa being canonized is something very important in our society today because it’s not every day a saint is canonized. She was declared a saint in front of hundreds of people. Saint Teresa of Calcutta was born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia. She was the youngest of three children. When she was seventeen she answered her first calling to become a missionary nun. She joined an Irish group, the Sisters of Loretto which is a community known for their missionary work in India. She chose the name Teresa after Saint Therese of Lisieux. She then started teaching at St. Mary's High School for girls and then became the principal. Later, she received “a call within a call” and left the Sisters of Loretto to care for the sick and the poor. Saint Teresa was the first to walk through the slums of India. The Pope allowed her to leave the sisters of Loretto and start an order. She established a nursing home that would help the poor and the sick. She visited families, cared for people on the street, and cared for those who where sick. After some time, her former students started to join her. Saint Teresa started sending her Sisters to other parts India to tend to the sick and the poor. Saint Teresa Is a great example to us as Catholics and everyone in the world because she shows us how to be a good person. |
