This week has been filled with assignments and homework, but the one that stuck out the most was our SLE's. We turned in our first draft on Thursday. My SLE is about Faith in Society. There are some many negative things going on in the world and it blinds us from seeing God and coming to know him. The world is filled with darkness and it can lead us to make wrong choices. For example, the talk we had with Helen Rossi went with my topic as well. There was a lady named Kate that went with her as well. She divide the white board into two. On one side was God and the other side was World. For a big portion of her life, she lived on the side that side world. She lived in darkness and sin. She made wrong choices and it made her life more difficult. She eventually found the side with God on it and her life became better. In my essay I also include how we can be the light of the world. Since there is so much darkness in the world, God calls us to be lights of the world. As an example, I used St. Teresa as an example in my essay. I said that St. Teresa was well-known throughout the world and that she brought light into the world. She might have even changed the lives of others. I also used St. Francis of Assisi in my essay as well. He lived on the dark side for awhile until he noticed that he needed God in his life. He was really humble and many people thought he was a really holy person and they eventually joined him. In his prayer it says that when there's doubt, faith. It means that whenever you think something's wrong, turn to God because you'll find the way. SLEs are actually pretty interesting and it actually helps me deepen my faith and come to know God more.
